Lately, there is much press about going vegan. So what is vegan? There are a few definitions for the word vegan, having to do with the background motivation of the person involved, and whether you are defining vegan to be a description of your diet or your lifestyle.

If someone is using the term vegan to define their style of eating, then they are saying they eat no animal products. This means they do not eat any part of an animal, nor to they eat eggs, milk, and other products derived from animal secretions. Eating vegan is also called strict vegetarianism. And just in case you werent sure animal includes fish and fowl so no chicken McNuggets and no filet-o-fish.

Others strongly believe that the term vegan is an ideological description and that you must be an animal rights activist to be truly vegan. Generally these people have come to veganism through a strong desire to prevent the mistreatment or slaughter of any animal.

Vegans who are motivated by ideology will also eschew all other animal products to the best of their abilities. They will not buy leather products, or products made from animals, such as leather, fur, or ivory. Nor will they buy products that have been tested on animals.

Since it is impossible to live in society today and not consume animal products in some fashion, the philosophical vegan will strive to eschew animal products. There are hidden animal products in many products you would never expect. Sheetrock often contains horsehair. Violin bows are usually made from horsehair. Violins are often glued together with animal based glue. Rubber is processed with animal products. Most vegans live with this conundrum by accepting that they cannot be perfect vegans. Therefore they strive to do the best they can.

Most people who are not vegan can understand the motivation to vegetarian, even if they would not consider it themselves. But they, and most vegetarians, wonder why someone would go one step further and give up milk, cheese, and eggs. When animals are being killed, the motivation is understandable, but animals are not killed to provide dairy and eggs. However, they are often treated very badly. Often they are confined in such small spaces that they do not have the ability to turn around. And the few hours or days en route to the slaughterhouse are sheer torture. Vegans are motivated by a desire to prevent this cruelty.

Other reasons to give up dairy and eggs revolve around health issues. There is a wealth of data which supports a vegan diet is much healthier than the Standard American Diet (SAD). Instances of cancer, heart attack, stroke, and diabetes are dramatically lower in the vegan population.

Finally, there is significant evidence pointing to the fact that eating animals and animal products increases global warming. It takes significantly more energy to produce food from animals than it does to produce food from vegetables. This uses more resources, and causes more pollution.

Lane Wright, who along with his wife, has been living a happy, healthy life eating a vegan diet for several years. He shares his experiences and offers a wealth of information about how to become a vegan in his column. You can learn about quinoa recipes and other delicious meals at his website.

Followers of this movement are fondly called vegans and everything related to them are also referred to as vegan. They undertake not to use or sell or manufacture or consume anything with animal or animal products in them including footwear.

Knee High Boots boast of being lovely as well as delicate with all man made materials. Vegan knee high boots have slip on designs which will add some character to your outfit. Designs vary from decorative black or green as well as tan outer. Vegan knee high boots can also have somewhat padded insole with and rubberized sole.

Vegan knee high boots give terrific value for your money. They are very pretty boots as well as very comfortable. You are sure to receive a lot of compliment. Vegan knee high boots will surely heat up your cold winter day or night. They will sure to wow anyone who sees them on you. Just be sure you got the right style for your body. Women with larger legs will look real sexy with a pair of vegan knee high stretch boots.

Pleather is a short and slang for “plastic leather” referring the material for synthetic leather which is basically made of plastic. Pleather is commonly used as a substitute for leather because of its being inexpensive.

Vegan knee high boots also use pleather material because of its designs that would have greatly exploited leather materials from animals, which the vegan movement and followers strongly detest. Vegan knee high boots have polyurethane pleather for its washable and dry-cleaned product lines. A vegan will not patronize any product made of leather or wool. Vegan knee high boots provides alternative outfit to a vegan followers.

Another universal factor to consider is to always go for vegan knee high boots that compliments your leg size. A vegan knee high boots that wrap up the legs should be worn by women with bulky calves to see to it that the legs get snug in comfortably. Loose boots will only highlight the legs even more. A stretch boots or lace-up vegan knee high boots should be perfect. For thinner legged women, a vegan knee high with bulky material and loose design should do the trick. You would want to make your legs look fuller.

Vegan Knee High Boots don’t look or feel any different from your other knee high boots. You can still wear super sexy boots without needing to wear anything that has needed animals to create.

Rescue groups or organizations are volunteer groups dedicated to pet adoption. These groups or organizations take the unwanted, abandoned, abused and stray animals and attempt to locate life long homes for these animals. Rescue groups may also take the animals themselves and care for them, providing them training, medical care and taking care of the behavioural problems until they get a suitable home for them.

Pet adoption from rescue groups is a great way of providing a loving home for pets that may not have any owners or any loving and caring experience. Rescue animals just need a little bit more of guidance and stable environment.

Rescue animals, most of the time, have spent time in a family environment. So some of the rescue animals have already gone some obedience training and already housebroken. Although there is still some rescue animals, due to owner’s neglect haven’t gone any training at all. Rescue groups make sure that animals have been housebroken or trained before being put up for adoption.

Also, rescue organizations are including temperament testing in their processes before accepting a pet into their programs. Foster families or soon-to-be-parents of the rescued animals have the opportunity to continue in observing the behaviour of animals before being available for adoption. With this process, the soon-to-be-pet parents can make an informed decision if they will be able to cope with the behaviour and attitude of the rescue animals.

In terms of medical care, rescue animals if already old enough, may have already been neutered and received vaccinations. Rescue pets have already undergone physical examination. If there are some health issues, they have been treated while in foster care. Health problems are being taken care of prior to adoption.

The bond between rescue animals and their pet owners are very strong. It is commonly noticed and shared that rescue animals are eager to please their new owners. They are usually eager to be part of a loving family where they know they are safe and secure.

Animals that have experienced abuse and neglect when shown or treated with kindness become devoted, loving and loyal companions. Skittish and timid animals become more confident eventually becoming more affectionate and outgoing. There are experiences from rescued puppies to wanting to be in their new owner’s lap and following them at all times.

Rescue organizations are very keen of placing their animals in suitable homes that will be their life long or “forever” home. Pet parents looking to adopt for pets undergo a selection process that will make sure that the pet is suitable to the type of family doing the adoption. If ever the family encounters a problem that cannot be given a solution, most rescue groups have a return clause written in their adoption contract.

But generally, adult pets that you can get from the rescue groups are better adapting to their new family especially kids. Housebroken and adult pets are more mellow and more patient with children.

Adopting a pet is a good value that can be though to our children. Especially since everything can be bought, adopting provides a great opportunity to teach our children compassion, caring , second chances and responsibility.

If pet parents are interested getting purebred dogs, there are purebred rescue groups. These rescue groups are voluntarily run by people with in-depth knowledge of a specific breed. Adopting fees vary depending on the veterinary and medical costs that have been spent while they are in foster care. Follow-up counselling is also available for post adoption problems.

Rescue groups and organizations provide the opportunity for animals to be relocated in much secure and safe homes. Pet adoption is a great and humane thing to do.

——————————————————————————————–

There are many ways you can find information about Shih Tzu rescue groups in your area. Hopefully you will never need to contact these groups but if you ever find yourself in a situation where you can help out a poor little dog with just a phone call or a kind gesture then having knowledge of this information can mean all the difference in the world.

Contact your local newspaper and ask them for the contact information for the animal rescue organizations in your area. Sometimes they will publish that information once a week and if they don’t publish it they will still usually have the information on hand for anyone that needs it.

Your local newspaper can be a great resource, so don’t forget it when you need important information.

If you are an animal lover, or just a dog lover, then you need to know the different ways to get Shih Tzu rescue information should you ever need it. Of course the hope is that you never need to contact anyone to save the life of a helpless little dog but if you ever do then it is a good idea to know what resources are at your fingertips that will allow you to get in touch with the right people to help an abandoned dog or a dog in crisis.

Whenever you are looking up any kind of information never forget to use the Internet. It is always helpful when a local animal rescue group maintains some sort of website because a website gives you all the information you need right at your finger tips. So always check the Internet whenever you are looking for any kind of contact information because you would be surprised at the amount of information you will find on the World Wide Web.

A place many people look to as a source for all important community information is the local city or town hall. Many animal rescue groups will leave their contact information at the local city or town hall because that is where a community turns when it doesn’t know where else to get information from.

It may be that they are not able to supply Shih Tzu rescue information but they should be able to get you in touch with an animal rescue group that can help.

Any thing you can do to help a poor abandoned or abused animal will be greatly appreciated by the animal and it will give you a good feeling inside because you did the right thing for a defenseless pet. Don’t let a poor little animal suffer, if you know an animal needs help the get a hold of an animal rescue group right away.

Animal euthanasia is the act of inducing death to an animal. Euthanasia methods are designed to cause minimal pain and distress. Most of the times, it is called the act of “putting asleep” an animal. Meanwhile organizations like animal rescue groups and animal rights organizations strictly oppose this method. They say pet adoption could dramatically reduce the number of animals being “put to sleep”.

There are many reasons for animal euthanasia. Terminal illness, behavioural problems like aggression can be reasons for euthanasia. While there are animal owners inducing their animals or pets to euthanasia when they have illnesses or broken limbs that requires big medical and financial attention.

Old age is also a common reason for animal or pet euthanasia. Meanwhile for animal shelters, they induce euthanasia since they do not have enough space or room for an abandoned animal.

According to Humane Society of the United States, there is an estimated 4 to 5 million of adoptable animals in animal shelters euthanized due to lack of facilities. While American Humane Association cites even a bigger number, 9.6 million of animals in the United States are being euthanized every year.

According to the survey conducted by the American Humane Association, out of the 1000 shelters who responded to the survey, 2.7 million of 4.3 million animals (64 percent) are being euthanized. Out of this euthanized number, 56 percent are dogs and 71 percent are cats. There 15 percent of dogs and 2 percent of cars were reunited with their owners. Just a dismal 25 percent of dogs and 24 percent of cats were adopted.

Majority of the animals in shelters were being euthanized since there is a standard period of time (ranging from several days to weeks for unclaimed stray animals). However, there are “no kill” shelters run by private and animal welfare organizations. These “no kill” shelters make it an official policy never to euthanize animals for medical reasons.

Another reason why animal euthanasia is creeping to our culture is because of pet overpopulation. There are numerous pet owners surrendering their pet due to personal reasons and inadequacy in taking responsibility for their pets. There are also people who only wants puppies, once the puppies grow, they completely neglect them and eventually surrender them to shelters or rescue groups.

There are owners who due to failure of spaying or neutering their animals tend to reproduce. There are thousands of litters being born in American homes every day. It is important to consider the financial and medical attention and responsibility these huge numbers of pet reproduction. We do not want to contribute to the raising number of people surrendering their pets for adoption. Eventually, leading to not being adopted and euthanasia.

Clearly, there is crisis in the pet population of the United States. Too many animal companions competing for a few good homes than will take them is a clear effect of uncontrolled breeding.

Dog bite victims are now ranging to 4.5 million each year, due to uncontrolled breeding. Some of the victims fall prey to homeless and stray animals in the streets. They pose public danger, and the government is paying the people’s tax money in controlling these animals and maintaining animal shelters.

Pet adoption is a great way of lessening the impact of the crisis in pet population. Instead of buying pets from puppy mills or companies that breeds animals for profit, adopting an animal is a great way of reducing the number of euthanized animals in shelters.

There are countless benefits of pet adoption. There are studies conducted saying the adopted pets are more loyal and devoted since they have already experienced the worst. Pet adoption is a great way of reducing the number of animals in shelters and making way for another one. Pet adoption battles euthanasia - one pet at a time.

Bear farming is a despicable practice performed cruelly against defenseless, caged animals to remove bile their body produces. The victims in this inhumane bear farming enterprise are Asiatic Black Bears, also called Moon Bears. Some captive Moon bears remain imprisoned their entire life. The cages are only slightly larger than the bears, with no room to move around. The bears must lie flat, rubbing their skin raw against the bars, in agony for years.

Moon Bears get their name from the distinct golden crescent displayed on their black furred chest. Bears are the only mammal to produce large amounts of bile. Bear bile has been used in Chinese medicine for thousands of years.

The Chinese believe the bear bile expels heat from the body. You may say, then it is a medical benefit for humans. A synthetic version of bear bile has been available for decades. It is as effective, readily available, and COST LESS to manufacture than the bear bile extracted through bear farming. Herbal remedies have also been developed.

After bear farming produces a surplus of bear bile for medicinal purposes, it is sold for use in cosmetics. Bear bile is used in other products such as shampoos, skin cream, and wine.

The bear farmers are not veterinarians; they are not skilled in performing surgery. They insert metal catheters into the bear’s gall bladder through its stomach. The bears must suffer the punishment of their gall bladder being drained and milked twice a day.

Under unsanitary conditions, the open wound that bear farming causes can become infected. When a bear struggles from the pain and mistreatment, his teeth are knocked out and his paws cut off. Bear paw is considered a delicacy in Asian countries.

China outlawed poaching native bears in the 1980’s. Bear farming evolved from their ‘model concept’ of conservation. Here is their ‘thinking’ in a nutshell. [An appropriate sized receptacle] Bears were becoming endangered from poaching to sell their body parts. “Let’s start bear farming; we won’t have to hunt down the dangerous bears. We will pen them in tiny cages, at our disposal. Never mind that they are breathing, living creatures. We are protecting their numbers by keeping them here. Meanwhile, to earn their keep, we will painfully extract unnecessary body fluids on demand. Who cares, they are only animals.”

New scientific studies have revealed animals do have emotions, build relationships, and bear grudges. Anyone with a heart and has a pet, knows this. Reports by witnesses to the bear farming practices say the bears moan and bang their head on the cages in pain from the injuries inflicted on them.

Bear farming is taking place in an estimated 208 bear bile farms in China. Researchers believe more than 12,000 bears are kept on bear farms in China, Vietnam, and South Korea.

The World Society for the Protection of Animals [WSPA] has invented a kit that will detect the presence of bear tissue in medicines and other consumer goods. [Remember the recalls from 2007] Trade in bear products is prohibited. ‘Positive test results detected bear meat, blood, dried and fresh galls, teeth, bones, skin, and fur in Chinese medicines.’

Moon bears are a close relative of the American black bear. Let’s do all we can to help.
